Cape Elizabeth, Maine
Harbour Lights #216
Built in 1874 along with its twin
counterpart, the sentinel at Cape Elizabeth is undoubtedly one of America's most beautiful
lighthouses. Although the western tower was deactivated, the eastern beacon remains one of
New England's most powerful lights. Automated in 1963, the light guides mariners away from
the dangerous shoals that protrude from the cape.
