![]() Point Fermin CaliforniaHarbour Lights Limited Edition #519
/ #528 * Point Fermin Light Station is a stunning example of the Italianate Victorian architecture. Built from redwood, fir, and brick, it is the last surviving Southern California wooden lighthouse of the period to remain intact. During World War II, the light was extinguished, but the building served as a radar and signaling station. After the war, Point Fermin was abandoned in favor of the much more powerful light station at Point Vicente. Two San Pedro residents launched a citizens' campaign for the preservation of the lighthouse. In 1972, Point Fermin was officially recognized by the National Park Service as a protected historical site.
