 Kilauea, Hawaii
1999 Store Event Exclusive
Harbour Lights Event Edition #622
On the northern coast of the beautiful
island of Kauai, flocks of frigate birds descend on Kilauea Point. One hundred and eighty
feet below, waves break against the rocks, while humpback whales, spinner dolphins and
monk seals play in the distant surf.
A light station was established near
these cliffs in 1913. Rising 216 feet above sea level, the beacon was the first light
visible to mariners traveling from the north. Since 1985, the lighthouse has been a
popular feature of the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, a protected area for
endangered birds. Although the tower is off-limits, the small keeper's cottage has
been transformed into a fascinating visitor's center.
Bill and Nancy Younger have chosen
Kilauea Point as our 1999 Event Exclusive. For the first time ever, we are offering a
full-sized limited edition, available only at stores hosting an approved promotional event
during 1999 for a suggested $65.
