Delaware Breakwater, DE
Harbour Lights #391
In the early 1800s, sailors caught in storms off the mid-Atlantic coast would seek shelter inside Cape Henlopen on the southern side of Delaware Bay. It was here that the government built a series of breakwaters, over time, to reinforce this natural refuge. Construction of the first breakwater began in 1828, and ten years later, the Philadelphia architect, William Strickland, designed a two-story brick and stone lighthouse to be built on its far western end. This solid structure braved countless storms and served as a sentinel until 1901. It was finally demolished in 1960.
Harbour Lights Collectible Replica in a Limited Edition of 1,200 pieces. 5" x 6 1/2".
NOTE: Disaster Struck!
Some weeks ago, while carrying our three most recently completed wax sculptures down to the mold making department, our master sculptor slipped and dropped the pieces. He, fortunately, was OK. However, the three painstakingly crafted lighthouse replicas were completely destroyed! Due to this delay, we don't have photos of the finished sculptures. Above is the artist rendering our sculptor works from while creating the pieces. We hope to have pictures of these replicas very soon.
